EMDHR has the following programmes:

• Civic Education Programme: to raise the civic awareness levels of our people who have never exercised democratic rights

• Reconciliation and Dialogue Programme: to build strong unity, social cohesion, and peace building among the various sections of the Eritrean people with the aim for a peaceful and stable transition to democracy.

• Leadership programme: equipping activists with the skills needed to accomplish the objectives of the EMDHR and its projects

• Mass Mobilisation (Inside Eritrea and Diaspora): building a mass voice against the dictatorial rule in Eritrea

• Refugee protection programme: to defend and promote the rights of Eritrean asylum seekers and refugees, especially those who are precarious situations and left in limbo

• Building broad based mass movement: bringing together many Eritreanorganisations into unity in action in order to mobilise recourses and have a common voice.

• Mobilising International Solidarity: mobilising support for our quest for democracy in Eritrea

• Human Rights Observatory: Monitor Human Rights abuses in Eritrea

• Mesely Newsletter: publication and distribution
